One week down
Hard to believe one week ago I just arrived here in Mexico! Some days it seems like I have been here longer and some days it seems like I just got here. I am still in awe at how God continues to put each and every detail into place. I should not be surprised as we serve a mighty God. I continue to be grateful and often have tears because of how faithful God has been. I often think about what in the world I would be doing if I was living by myself. God knew I needed to be with people and He picked the perfect family! Norma, Ricardo, Michelle and Marlen is the family I am staying with. They speak English, so that has been good, but they are also teaching me Spanish. Norma sat me down at the table tonight and wrote sentences out and had me read them. She is spoiling me. She was gone before I left this morning, but had a drinkable yogurt with my water bottle on the table and even brought me lunch to school. What a blessing! Mom and dad got to chat with Norma for a bit on speaker phone tonight. That was good for everyone : )
I have survived 4 days of teacher meetings. They are much more relaxed here and lots of giggling. I was sharing with my mom how peaceful I have been, even though I still am not entirely sure what I will be doing and don't always understand what they are saying in the meetings : ) Liz, is the teacher I will be working with and she is another blessing! We were able to get the yearly planning penciled on the calendar today, so that was a good feeling. I got to to see the curriculum and it's in English : ) I wasn't sure if it would be in Spanish and I would have to translate. Although that probably would've been good for me. I need to get a picture with the other teachers. They are a fun group. Today was the first day I walked to school on my own. Not by myself, because Jenny reminded me that God was with me : ) I just didn't get dropped off. I am just a couple minute walk from school, so another blessing!
Tuesday Corinna took me to Wal Mart to get a few things I needed before I headed to my new home. She made some awesome shrimp tortellini and garlic bread for supper. She insisted we go have Dairy Queen, so I couldn't say no : ) It was fun to have a couple pieces that reminded me of home! It was bittersweet packing my stuff up Tuesday night. Who knew 6 nights and 5 days with someone could have such an impact. Joe and Corinna would not have been here last year if I had came, so just another detail God took care of.
Wednesday was my first afternoon and evening with my new family in Mexico : ) I have to watch how I word that so my real family doesn't think I am replacing them. LOL! Norma and I visited and tried to teach each other some words. She made some chicken and rice for supper and insisted we go get some dessert. Of course I said yes : ) We walked to the church to make sure I knew where I was going tomorrow. We took the dogs for a walk at the park and came back home. Then Ricardo came home and we all visited at the table for a little bit. They are just the sweetest family ever. Again, another detail God put in place.
Tomorrow afternoon I am heading back to Joe and Corinna's place as there are some other missionaries visiting and we are all having supper/dinner on Saturday evening. It will be good to meet new missionaries and see Joe and Corinna again.
It's about bedtime, so hopefully this all makes sense. I wanted to post as I know the weekend will be busy. Again, picture overload, but sometimes pictures speak louder than words. It's another fun way to share my journey.
Thank you all again for your prayers, love, support and encouragement. I couldn't do this journey without you! Feel free to comment, e mail, text, call and let me know how you are doing and what's new in your world. I am thankful for technology and being able to keep in touch and share this journey.
